So the best solution for the iPhone thus far is a combination of these two options. The loophole is, turn off WiFi and now you have access to those sites again. My router has DD-WRT installed, so I can block websites by keyword or by URL. One, it's easy to bypass the restriction (just enter your passcode), and two, the filter is really aggressive so you'll be typing your passcode in a lot, even for regular websites.īlock websites from your router. I use the "Limit Adult Websites" option, and add Reddit, Facebook, etc. You can set Restrictions to block all or certain websites in Safari. And AFAIK there's no jailbreak versions of SelfControl either. It's very limited - there's no "SelfControl"-type apps, per se. Not hard, just not as easy as paying the $20 for Focus. SelfControl can do this, too, but you'll have to write an AppleScript for this. In your case - dicking around before going to the gym - Focus may be more ideal because you can schedule it to block your access from 6AM to noon, or whenever. Personally, I use a combination of SelfControl and RescueTime, but I think I'm going to drop RescueTime because I already know where I waste my time. When run, you will see a window with: A radio button that you cant change. See the Diagnostics section below before you try to run the program the first time if you wish to check things out.
